Viewing angle is an intrinsic matter of LCD associated with its birefringent mode optics. Optical compensation films, pixel designs, and driving modes are available to resolve the negative viewing angle issues so that the viewing angle is no longer a critical issue in LCDs for monitor and TV applications. On the contrary, the small viewing angle of LCDs becomes a benefit when one needs to control and manipulate as needed, especially, for privacy purposes. Thus, the latest developments of alternating maximum and minimum viewing angles are valuable traits in LCD.
