Silicene, a single-layer honeycomb lattice of Si atoms, has recently emerged as a new member of 2D materials. A significant challenge has been performed to realize silicene on solid substrates. Silicene grown on Ag(111) is the most surveyed both theoretically and experimentally, so that our understanding has been matured. Here, we summarize the geometric and electronic structures of silicene grown on Ag(111).
