Performance analysis of a class of hybrid token-csma/cd protocols

摘要

A class of multiple access protocols named the reserve-k hybrid token-CSMA/CD protocols are analyzed. These protocols are suitable for slotted bus-structured LAN with dynamic traffic loads. By reserve-k it is meant that the first k time slots after the channel changes state from busy to idle are reserved for the priority user. Numerical results show that the reserve-k hybrid protocols perform as good as the better of the control token and the CSMA/ CD protocoIs at all times. Besides, it is found that k = 1 is the best choice among the class of investigated protocols.
