Observation of transient current in a nanotube-doped liquid-crystal cell induced by a polarity-reversed field

摘要

A minute addition of multiwalled carbon nanotubes as a dopant is capable of hindering the ion transport in cells of low-resistivity nematic liquid crystal containing a significant quantity of ionic impurities. This phenomenon is manifested by the weakening of transient current induced by the polarity reversal of an applied dc electric field. A simple one-dimensional model is developed to describe the observed data and to explain the essential feature pertaining to the resulting suppression of field screening.
