Effect of the titanium dioxide content on the interfacial reactions between titanium and zirconia/titanium dioxide composites

摘要

The samples were prepared with various content of TiO2 and 3 mol%Y2O3-ZrO2 at different mole percent, then hot-pressed at 1500°C for 2 hours and reacted with Cp-Ti at 1700°C for 60 minutes. The as-hot-pressed samples and interfacial reaction were characterized using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS). The experiment showed that the titanium side will exist Ti3O2 metal oxide after the interfacial react between titanium and ceramic bulk with high content TiO2-phase. If there is high content ZrO2-phase in the ceramic bulk, the titanium side will dissolved large amount of Zr and O. The brittle Ti2ZrO precipitated from super-saturated α-Ti(Zr,O) while cooling down. There is also forming (Ti,Zr)2O metal oxide in the titanium side. Liquid phase can be observed on the sides of ceramics containing TiZrO4 in the interfacial reaction with titanium that make titanium can diffuse into the inner side of ceramic to react instead of the appearance of reaction-affected zone.
