In this study, the airside performance, in terms of heat transfer performance and frictional characteristics, of the sinusoidal wavy fin-and-tube heat exchangers are experimentally investigated. The test samples contain a tube diameter of 16.3 mm, a transverse tube pitch of 38.1 mm, a longitudinal tube pitch 33 mm, and the number of tube row ranges from 2 to 6. The corresponding fin pitch is 3 and 1.8 mm, respectively and the frontal velocity varies from 1 to 6 m/s. Test results indicate that negligible influence of fin pitch on the heat transfer performance when the number of tube row is 2 or 4. However, the heat transfer performance for the larger fin pitch (3 mm) are about 10-15% higher than those of 1.8 mm. The friction factor is also relatively independent of the number of tube row. The existing correlation applicable for sinusoidal wavy fin geometry over-predicts the present test data considerably.
