2-D syntactic pattern recognition for the recognition of bright spots

摘要

Decision-theoretic and syntactic pattern recognition techniques are used to detect the candidate bright spot. The analysis is trace-by-trace in the one-dimensional (1-D) approach. In order to test whether the candidate bright-spot patterns represent a continuous reflection layer, the syntactic approach is proposed for two-dimensional analysis. A block diagram of the 2-D syntactic pattern recognition system is presented. Five methods are proposed to test the continuity of a reflection layer; three kinds of string distance computation are proposed to test the continuity of a brightspot pattern. In the experiment, a simulated seismogram and real seismograms at Mississippi Canyon and High Island were used.
