Using independent component analysis for colorant estimation in electrophoretic display

Abstract

We present a methodology to characterize the colorimetric performance of an electrophoretic display (EPD) with multiple colorants formation. We use the independent component analysis to formulate the composite hybrid color-mixing system Based on the proposed framework, the independently featuring spectra from pigments can be extracted to describe the rendering behavior of the complex display. Proposed model was validated to predict the chromatic feature with high accuracy (ΔEAVE 00<0.4) for a commercial EPD sample. This study is effective to uncover the underlying physical features from only colorant-mixture information in a novel color system
