Abstract

Chemical equations presented. Inverted carbenoid species, generated from attack of phosphines at the α(ß′)-carbon of hex-2-en-4-ynedioic acid dialkyl esters, react with aldehydes to give γ-lactones possessing an α-phosphorus ylide moiety.
