Thermal diffusivity of porous (Ca1-xMgx)Zr4(PO4) 6 ceramic

Abstract

The thermal diffusivity (α) of single-phase (Ca1-xMgx)Zr4(PO4)6 , or CMZP, ceramic with x = 0.1 and x = 0.4 was investigated in terms of porosity and temperature. The thermal diffusivity exhibits a lower temperature dependence at higher pore content and is roughly independent of temperature above 300 °C. In the same thermal environment, CMZP with x = 0.4 shows lower values of thermal diffusivity compared with that having x = 0.1. The phonon mean free path (L) is calculated to be 2.2 Å for x = 0.1 and 1.7 Å for x = 0.4.
