The study of process capability indices of anti-fragmentation of helmet

Abstract

The main usage of military helmet is to protect soldiers from the injury caused by the fragmentation of artillery shells. The V p-50 is used to measure the anti-fragmentation ability of helmets. Because the helmets are mass-produced, it may come from different manufacturing line. Therefore, it is important to judge the quality of different batches of helmet. A computation algorithm of the process capability index based on single specification limit of contaminated normal processes is proposed in the paper to fulfill the purpose. Not only the table of value of C 0 which is needed in calculating the 95% confidence internal is provided, but also a Fortran computer program to calculate the more complex C 0 outside the table. Finally, a decision making procedure is also provided.
