Abstract
Memory organization and data retrieval are among the most fundamental and important issues in vector processing. In this paper, the performance of the CRAY X-MP/4 memory system is studied through simulation. From the simulation results, it can be seen that there are occasions in which this memory system performs dissatisfactorily. To alleviate the burden of the extremely time-consuming simulation process, a statistical model is built to facilitate easy evaluation of the vector access process.
