Abstract

Under passive Q-switched laser pumping, a vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser consisted of a semiconductor gain medium with a high reflectivity dielectric distributed Bragg reflection and an external mirror can achieve ultra-low threshold lasing at room temperature.
