Abstract

The Tn-T1 spectra of the s-tetracyanobenzene (TCNB)-naphthalene complex are similar to the Tn-T1 spectra of the donor, while the spectra of TCNB complexes with methylsubstituted benzenes give many bands in the visible and near infrared regions. The difference between the T-n-T1 and Sn-S1 spectra of the TCNB-hexamethylbenzene complex was attributed theoretically to the different geometry and different charge-transfer degree between the phosphorescent and fluorescent states.
