Synthesis of high-Tc YBa2Cu3O7-x superconductors at a low annealing temperature from a glass precursor

Abstract

High-Tc superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-x oxides prepared at a low annealing temperature (850°C) from a glass precursor by rapid quenching from the melt have been successfully obtained with zero resistivity at the temperature of 92 K. The kinetics of the phase transition from the glassy state to superconducting phase have been characterized by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The magentic properties of the YBa2Cu3O7-x samples were measured by dc SQUID magnetometer are also discussed.
