Abstract

Novel Ce3+- and Eu2+-doped La3Br(SiS4)2:Ce3+/Eu2+ bromothiosilicate phosphors were prepared in a sealed ampule and their crystal structures were refined using Rietveld methods. The La3Br(SiS4)2:Ce3+ phosphor is excitable at 370 to 400 nm and generates a cyan emission, and the La3Br(SiS4)2:Eu2+ phosphor can be excited over a broad range from UV to blue (300 to 600 nm) and generates a red broadband emission.
