This paper presents a numerical model for computing dam-break flow over the movable bed. The hydrodynamic model adopts the generalized shallow water equations, which consider the effect of sediment transport and bed change on the flow. The sediment model computes the non-equilibrium transport of bed load and suspended. The sediment capacity determines by some empirical formulas. The physical mechanism of these empirical formulas can approximate to the phenomenon of dam-break flow over movable beds. The numerical method used in this paper is based on WENO method. By using the aforesaid method, the numerical model has not only a good performance on capturing the propagation of discontinuities, but also has well-balanced characteristic, which preserves mass conservation or decreases the non-conservative effects. The three dam-break experimental cases in the mobile-bed condition were simulated. The simulation results were similar to the previous researches. It indicates the numerical model is reliable. Finally, the interaction of water and sediment in dam-break field were investigated by the numerical model.
