Simulation study of carbon nanotube field emission display with under-gate and planar-gate structures

Abstract

The carbon nanotube field emission display with under-gate and planar-gate structures was discussed. It was found that the gate voltage had a strong effect on display's resolution. It was observed that for the planar triode structure, good resolution was achieved when the gate voltage was adjusted to converge the electron beams on an anode plate. Analysis show that due to the lack of field effect in the y-direction, the spot size of the current density on anode plate looked like strips and the resolution of the display was affected by that factor.
