Abstract

Considering a space-time coded system with M transmit and N receive antenna, it was assumed that under the quasi-static Rayleigh fading assumption that the channel was fixed for a duration of T symbol transmissions. Space-time codes whose rate and diversity satisfy the given equation with equality will be referred to as optimal space-time codes. The main result was a general construciton for optimal space-time block codes for a class of signal constellations that includes PAM, QAM and 2k-ary PSK as special cases.
