Photoionization study of CH 3SCH 2Cl formed in the reaction system CI/CI 2/CH 3SCH 3

Abstract

The photoionization efficiency (PIE) spectrum of CH 3SCH 2Cl was measured using a discharge-flow reactor, photoionization mass spectrometer, and a synchrotron. The ionization energy of the compound was found to be (9.077±0.007) ev. The PIE spectrum of CH 3SCH 2Cl rose abruptly beginning about 137 nm and ascended continuously at prominent value at 132 nm and then declined until 127 nm. Ab initio calculations were employed on CH 3SCH 2Cl and its cation to assess the reliability of experimental results.
