Abstract

The performance of the spindle motor applied for the DVD drive was evaluated by considering the dynamic characteristics, including, cogging torque, runout, vibration, running current, acceleration time and torque constant. It was found that the stator designed with the opening angle of 11.43° and slot angle of 28.7° is an optimal construct for a spindle motor using the DVD application.
