Abstract

The bounds on the diversity-multiplexing gain tradeoff of a space-time block code construction are discussed. The quasi-static, Rayleigh block fading, space-time channel with transmit and receive antennas is considered. A unified construction that provides space-time block codes over PAM, QAM constellations was provided. The construction makes use of binary codes which are maximal with respect to the rank distance metric and is optimum in terms of the rate-diversity tradeoff.
