On-chip terahertz signal generators for near-field biosensor arrays

Abstract

This paper assesses the feasibility of an on-chip array of terahertz generators/detectors for near-field sensing of a biological cell. With the prototype design, signal generation around 0.55 THz was measured and near-field sensing across the surface of a flat silicon wafer was demonstrated.
