N2 - In this paper, we propose an approach based on the concept of fuzzy reasoning to estimate the visibility among patches for hierarchical radiosity algorithms. The cost of determining visibility in form factors computation is the most expensive part in the whole process in the hierarchical radiosity algorithms. By applying the proposed fuzzy-based approach, we can improve the performance of hierarchical radiosity algorithms. We describe the algorithm and its implementation, and show that it can dramatically accelerate the hierarchical radiosity algorithms.
