Abstract
This position paper addresses the issues of service creation by integrating independently developed applications. Such a service creation paradigm is different from the past in that the building blocks used may be complete standalone applications rather than their reusable components and the mechanisms for this to work are defined as "brokering" and "mediation" . The paper defines this new service creation paradigm and articulates the research problems around the notion of service brokering and service meditation. To provide a good insight into the problem domain, a solution approach is proposed in the paper to lay out further work.
