Layer piling effect on multi-layer disk

Abstract

In this paper, a novel multilayer disc manufacture process with layer piling is introduced. The properties of birefringence and tilt of multilayer disc with layer piling are measured and discussed. The layer piling effect on radial tilt property is an important factor for quality control of manufactory multilayer disc. From the measurement result, the more layers piling, the greater radial tilt results. The dynamic test on triple layers of the disc is conducted to evaluate the effect of manufacture process. The jitter for each data layer can be less than 8% by well controlling process. From the measurement result, we obtain that the suitable thickness of space layer of triple layer disc is 40 μm for first space layer and 50 μm for second space layer.
