Abstract

Concepts of the Brownian Rachet and mechanisms of action of Na, K-ATPase, a universal ion pump were discussed. A theory of electroconformational coupling (TEC) which embodies all the essential features of the Brownian Rachet was also presented. It was found that electric noise superimposed on an electric signal changed the pump efficiency and produced effects similar to the stochastic resonance.
