Highly efficient organic blue electrophosphorescent devices based on 3,6-Bis(triphenylsilyl)carbazole as the host material

Abstract

A molecular-design strategy to retain the large triplet energy of carbazole for application in high efficient organic blue electrophorescent devices based on 3,6-bis(triphenylsilyl)carbazole (CzSi) as the host material, is discussed. The dibromo derivatives of carbazole are treated with n-BuLi at -78° to give dilithiated intermediates. The electrochemical properties of the CzSi are invested by cyclic voltammetry. The results show that the new compound retains the large triplet energy of carbazole yet exhibits greatly enhanced morphological stability.
