Abstract
The first household interview survey has been conducted to understand the travel characteristics of residents in Macao. Some initial findings were presented, and the daily trip characteristics including average trip rates, trips distribution by purpose, trip length, transport mode, and car ownership have been determined. The survey data can be useful to the government for the purpose of transportation planning and transport policy making. It also provides insights and references to the travel characteristics of such a unique city with high population density.
