Gray-level patterning of gold nanoparticles with scanning probe lithography of self-assembly monolayer

Abstract

Based on the experiments, tip/sample bias less than 4.5 V can not effectively decompose the bonds of SAMs. We have successfully demonstrated that the gray-level patterning of AuNPs on the 2.5-nm-thick SiO2 surface by the SPL SAMs decomposing. Because of AuNPs have been widely used for variety applications, it is believed that the novel SPL decomposition technique can be adopted to generate different distribution densities of AuNPs on the silicon oxide surface. Also, the proposed nanofabrication technique may be further applied in both nanoelectronics and nanobiosensing.
