Abstract
In this communication, we describe the use of the RRA in furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. We show that the RRA is an optical element which is easily incorporated into an existing instrument and which has the potential of decreasing detection limits by a factor of two or more. In addition, because it compensates for refractive index gradients, the RRA may aid in the study of the vaporization and atomization mechanisms in this system.
