Fabrication and nonlinear optical properties of nanoparticle silver oxide films

Abstract

The fabrication of nanoparticle silver oxide thin films using rf magnetron sputtering and characterization of their nonlinear optical properties were presented. The particle plasmon resonance wavelength was shifted from 420 to 450 nm with increased Ag 2 O particle size. The measured third-order nonlinear susceptibility and response time of the Ag 2 O nanoparticles were found suitable for applications in all-optical swithcing devices and optical data storage systems.
