On-Site engineers need to face a variety of tedious administrative routines such as inspection documentation and photos in addition the dynamic change of construction process. Current practices for inspection photographing require engineers to spent much effort in organizing photos at job site offices after shooting on-site and querying when necessary, and it is vey easy to falsify photos or make mistake during the process. This is because they lack automation in the process of creating, naming, and view photos. This research develops a system that utilizes mobile device, GPS, and BIM to automating the naming of inspection photos with anti-counterfeiting and error-proof mechanism, and management and viewing photos based on BIM information. Although the implemented prototype system is still not fully error-proof due to the limitation of accuracy of available GPS, it still demonstrates its usefulness and improves the creditability of inspection photos taken using the system.
