Abstract

Some topics discussed are these: general requirements for lasing action; methods of chemical laser initiation (flash photolysis, electrical discharge, electron beams, shock heating, initiation by chemical reactions, initiation by flames, and initiation by combustor products); types of chemical lasers (vibrational transition lasers, rotational transition lasers, and electronic transition lasers); and kinetic modeling of chemical laser systems.
