Application of probabilistic point estimation methods to optimal water resources management under uncertainty

Abstract

This paper applies two efficient probabilistic point-estimate (PE) methods to distribution problems. A numerical example of linear programming-based groundwater hydraulic model is used to demonstrate the methodology. It is found that the PE methods are more efficient than the Monte Carlo method while achieving the same mean of optimal objective function.
