Abstract
Field sequential color liquid crystal displays (FSCLCDs) can remove color filters, thus saving parts of material cost and improving the optical efficiency. However, color breakup (CBU) which degrades image qualities has come up with sequential driving displays. An adaptive backlight optimized CBU suppression between the CBU and original images. The algorithm used 3-step feedback approach to determine adaptive backlight in one frame time according to image contents. The simulated images showed the CBU was greatly suppressed with the adaptive backlight.
