A K-band to Ka-band CPW-like low loss transmission line in 0.18-um CMOS

Abstract

A low loss and CPW-like transmission line is proposed in this paper. This CPW-like transmission line which we call pseudo-coplanar waveguide in this paper shows less insertion loss compared with thin-film microstrip line. The simulation result of insertion loss is almost a constant value with - 0.2 dB from 20 GHz to 50 GHz. Although the measurement result performs less well than expected, we find the reason and propose a method to reduce the time of EM simulation.
