59.3: Phosphor modeling for phosphor-converted LEDs

This paper presented a precise methodology to completely characterize the optical properties of the phosphor layer in phosphor-converted LEDs. As long as the coated phosphor layer is available for measurement, the Monte Carlo simulation assisted by the proposed spectrum-related bidirectional distribution function can predict the pcLED properties with high accuracy. The proposed scheme verified by a general pcLED with conformal phosphor coating provides an effective way for phosphor characterization.
