12.3: Multi-LC/BL algorithmic technique in field color sequential LCD for color breakup suppression

Abstract

This paper proposes a gray level determination of liquid crystal and backlight (LC/BL) to suppress color breakup (CBU) in field color sequential technique of LCD. Classified determination and backlight type with associated controlling backlight improves dynamic image quality and reduces CBU effect. Besides, the proposed Multi-LC/BL algorithm adaptively selects an adequate mode according to the image data. In other words, the scope of CBU suppression of Multi-LC/BL algorithm is more extensive than other conventional field color sequential techniques.
