Natural Hazard Mitigation Research Center was founded in 1998, affiliated to the College of Engineering, National Chiao Tung University. The center has integrated cross-disciplinary academic areas related to disaster prevention and water environmental technologies. The center was later granted as a university affiliated center and entitled as “Disaster Prevention and Water Environment Research Center” (DPWE) in March 2009.
